Tessa and I crossed paths as young professionals at AILA in our early twenties. Our bond was instant—fueled by our mutual love of running, navigating life as recent graduates, and the serendipity of being born just three days apart (yay Virgos!). Together, we worked on the Immigration Justice campaign, and confided in each other our aspirations for the future, as both of us were considering attending law school. Tessa’s stories of her family radiated warmth and happiness, a testament to her profound commitment both to her work and her loved ones. As I embark on my first year of law school this week, Tessa's memory accompanies me, reminding me of the aspirations we once dreamt together. May her memory be a blessing.
